WITH third division leaders Holt and second placed United FC suffering postponements due to respective opponents Zeals FC and Drummer Boy being unable to raise teams, it meant that after an 8-1 win for White Horse FC over Trowbridge Rangers, Holt saw their lead at the top of the table trimmed to four points.
White Horse led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Dave Appleyard and Stuart Barber and even though Tom Doveton reduced the arrears for Trowbridge Rangers early in the second half, White Horse made their class show as they moved through the gears to score six unanswered goals.
A second from Barber restored their two goal advantage and after that the floodgates opened.
Kane Scott made it 4-1 before a quick fire treble from Dan Cox that took his tally for the season to 11 made it 7-1 before a third from Barber saw him complete the second hat-trick of the game and extend his team's winning start to five matches.
Marshfield FC 2 Polenez Westbury 0
A 2-0 VICTORY for Marshfield at home to Polenez Westbury saw the villagers pick up their fourth win in six outings and the win also sees them claim a share of third spot with the inactive United FC side.
Marshfield’s success came thanks to a goal in each half, Shane Andrews' 32nd minute effort separated the sides at half time and they wrapped up the three points on 89 minutes when Andy Jefferies scored from the penalty spot after Jordan Bennett had been fouled.
The Stiffs 1 The Lamb Reserves 4
THE meeting at the Stallards between Trowbridge-based rivals The Stiffs and Lamb Reserves resulted in the latter picking up their first success of the season thanks to a 4-1 win which saw them end a five-match losing streak.
Lamb led 2-0 at the break thanks to a double from Ryan Bodman and, after opening his account for Adam Stevens' side on his debut, the striker completed his hat-trick with a second-half strike that put the Lamb 3-0 ahead.
Darren Brewer reduced the arrears for a Stiffs side who were guilty of missing a number of chances, but his goal was just a consolation as Mark Billett with his first goal for the Lamb sealed their 4-1 success.
