FROME Town have appointed former Poole Town and Bournemouth Poppies boss Brian O'Donnell as their new manager.

The 56-year-old, who also had a spell as caretaker boss of Dorchester Town in 2009, succeeds Derek Graham, who was sacked by the Robins earlier this month, in the Badgers Hill hotseat.

Former AFC Bournemouth youth coach O'Donnell, who holds a UEFA 'A' coaching qualification, featured for the Cherries, Torquay United, Bath City and Salisbury City in his playing days and had most recently been working as a scout for Middlesborough manager Tony Mowbray.

Robins chairman Jeremy Alderman said: "We are really happy that Brian has accepted our offer and we look forward to working closely with him.

"We had a good level of applicants and it was a really tough decision but in the end, Brian ticked all the right boxes that we were looking for and came across really well in the interview.

"He buys into what we are trying to achieve - we are building an entire club and not just the first-team."

The new Frome chief was at Badgers Hill to watch the Robins' thrilling 4-4 draw with Bedford Town last weekend and will be introduced to his new squad at tomorrow night's Red Insure Cup clash with local rivals Chippenham Town.

Caretaker boss Lloyd Chamberlain has added Westbury United's Simon Millard and Frome Collegians' James Rustell to their squad.
