IT’S as you were in Division One after all five matches were abandoned on a weather-hit day in the Wiltshire League on Saturday.
Mark Wiltshire and John Wiltshire were unbeaten on 75 and 63 respectively in Beanacre & Melksham’s ultimately fruitless 213-5 against Bradford on Avon, while Marlon Simons scored 87 in Urchfont’s 199 all out against Swindon Civil Service.
Akarshit Gomel blasted another century for runwaway leaders Purton in their clash against Wootton Bassett, but it proved in vain as the elements intervened.
Gomel hit 118 off 86 deliveries, Elijah Samuel adding 58 and Mark Gardner an unbeaten 57 as their side amassed 315-6.
Roger Willoughby took 2-51 for Bassett, who were unable to get their reply under way before the weather brought a premature end.
Also cursing their luck were Malmesbury, who bowled out Swindon Nalgo for 123, James Pickering taking 4-31 from 10 overs. They were 24-0 in their reply before the stoppage.
Dave Beal scored an unbeaten 73 for rock-bottom Spye Park as they reached 172-6 before the abandonment against Hinton Charterhouse.
Division 2
BOX declared at 203-4 against Warminster 3rd in Division Two, Neil Pettit scoring 79, Rich Foley 48 and Chris Bultitude 34, but Warminster were unable to start their reply.
Cliff Thomsett scored 45 and Steve Copland added 40 in Lacock’s 164-7 against Swindon A, who were similarly foiled by the weather.
Division 3
ALL Cannings picked up one of the few positive results of the day, as they defeated Seagry by eight wickets.
Seagry were all out for 80, Alan Norman hitting 34 and Josh Hugo 25.
Kevin Ryalls with 5-17 off eight and Garreth Robb, with 3-0 off four were the pick of the bowlers.
Andrew Legg’s 30 helped Cannings to their target for the loss of two wickets.
Swindon United Churches were also winners by eight wickets, with Wanborough the victims.
Daniel Hunt took 5-4 in five overs and Adam Tooze 2-8 in 12 as Wanborough were bowled out for 51.
Jimmy Mann’s unbeaten 18 helped Churches get home.
Division 4
BEANACRE & Melksham 2nd had posted 208-9 against Bathford when their match was abandoned, Scott Cameron scoring 83 and Jonathon Heaps 45.
Xavier Snowman scored an unbeaten 134 in Ramsbury’s 239-4 against Swindon B which failed to last the distance, while Chris Dicker hit 46 in a fruitless cause against Malmesbury 2nd.
Division 6
PURTON 2nd romped to a 10-wicket win over their Collingbourne counterparts, Neil Little (75*) and Chris Newman (52*) successfully chasing down their opponents’ 134.
Cherhill successfully chased down a revised target of 58 from 25 overs after Highworth had finished 104 all out from their innings.
Division 7
THERE was a surprise defeat for leaders Heytesbury & Sutton Veny 2nd as Buscot Park 2nd chased down a rain-reduced target.
Heytesbury were all out for 136, Alex Adlam scoring 32, Rob Robson 26 and Charles Budgett 26 not out, Mike Heasman leading the bowling with 3-24.
Set 82 to win from 27 overs, Buscot got home for the loss of three wickets, Andy Morbey hitting 40 and Paul Farmer 36 not out, as Robson took 2-43.
Lacock 2nd’s Matt Cookson (105) and Mark Simmons (83) shared a second-wicket stand of 179 as their side totalled 201-5, only for their clash with Westbury 3rd to be abandoned.
Division 8 MARLBOROUGH 3rd defeated Goatacre 4th by six wickets, despite Tom Cutler’s 34 for Goatacre.
