WESTBURY were unable to close the gap on fourth-placed Rockhampton as they slipped to a six-wicket reverse in South Gloucestershire last weekend.
Richard Oakley’s men chose to bat first after winning the toss but got off to a difficult start as their first three wickets fell for just 26 runs.
Lydon Gibbons restored some order to innings with a knock of 57 whilst Ben Whiting weighed in with 34.
Rob Penfold also added 24 but Rockhampton’s William Cartlidge was on-form with the ball, taking 3-19.
Joe Maiden also claimed three wickets as Oakley’s men were skittled out for 175 early in the 48th over.
The hosts’ Matt Tyler led the way for Rockhampton, sticking at the crease as he hit an unbeaten 72.
Simon Hore added 46 not out and despite Westbury’s Simon Rose taking two wickets, William Tyler added 24 as the home side eased to 179-4 in just over 40 overs.
Westbury, who are 26 points behind Rockhampton and 20 points ahead of sixth-placed Chippenham, face a tough home clash with league leaders Biddestone tomorrow.
