TROWBRIDGE skipper Tom Weaver says his side have been transformed by back-to-back victories in their last two outings.

Weaver’s men triumphed at local rivals Winsley on July 13 before crushing Great Bedwyn by nine wickets at the County Ground last weekend.

“We hadn’t won for a few weeks so it’s been a big morale boost beating our – as they call themselves – ‘noisy neighbours’ Winsley and Great Bedwyn,” said the Trowbridge captain.

“We’ve wanted to show that we are a good side and it’s been good to pick up a few good results.

“It’s been good to see Mike Reynolds back hitting runs and Alex Hart, the experienced head, has been providing a good platform too.

“I’ve also managed to bring back the Edgington brothers, Rob and Stuart, who were part of the Trowbridge team back when we were in the Premier Two division a few years ago, and they’ve had a big impact.

“They’ve not only been a massive influence on the pitch but also in the dressing room – I’m a young captain and it’s hard to set myself away from guys that I’m friends with so having two other leaders there helps.”

Visitors Bedwyn won the toss and chose to bat first, with opener John Palmer making 45.

Rob Palmer also found his range as he hit 62 but the Trowbridge bowlers were on-form, with Chris Blundy (29) the only other visiting batsman to reach double figures as Wesley Fernando took three wickets for 22 runs.

Mike Reynolds also ended the afternoon with figures of 2-25 as Bedwyn posted 189-7.

Weaver’s men then set about ruthlessly chasing down their target, with Reynolds following on from his century against Winsley with an unbeaten knock of 85.

Alex Hart made 43 whilst Weaver hit 42 not out as Trowbridge reached 190-1 in the 37th over.

Weaver’s men face a daunting trip to Swindon this weekend, who will be fresh from inflicting a 199-run defeat on Winsley.

Charlie Holton’s men put their hosts in to bat first after winning the toss and Jake Goodwin led the way for Swindon, hitting 76.

Jonathan Sore weighed in with 68 whilst Marc Williamson (49), Paul Paginton (24) and Andrew Staff (23*) all put runs on the board.

Winsley’s Pete Orchard took two wickets but the home side posted a towering 304-5.

The visitors’ testing run chase was hampered from the off as their first two wickets fell for just 25 runs.

Stuart Hammond got Winsley’s highest score with a knock of 23 whilst Brendan Nasser (15), Holton (13) and Robbie Cross (12) were the only other visiting batsmen to reach double figures as the Swindon bowling attack went to work.

David Miles was the pick of the home bowlers (3-28) as Holton’s side were skittled for just 105 in the 32nd over.
