WILTSHIRE moved into a strong position after the opening day of their Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash with Cornwall at Corsham CC yesterday.
The home side bowled their opponents out for 211 and then matched that score for the loss of two wickets by the close of play.
Cornwall won the toss but were dismissed before tea in just 61 overs.
Purchase made 81 for the visitors, but their chief tormentor was Tahir Afridi, who took 6-63.
Wiltshire had moved smoothly to 211-2 in 46 overs by stumps, Goatacre's Ed Kilbee the mainstay with a superb 123 not out.
Warminster's Richie Underdown also scored 61.
The match contintues today at Station Road, play starting at 11am.
