ATHLETICS: THE annual Tidworth 10k and 3k fun run attracted record numbers of participants, with 500 runners turning out for the 10k run and nearly 200 taking part in the 3k fun run.
The event, which is organised by the 1 Mechanized Brigade Headquarters and Signal Squadron (215), with support from Salisbury District Hospital's fundraising office, is also on course to break last year's fundraising record of £12,000.
Dave Cates, director of fundraising at Salisbury District Hospital said: "We are delighted with the turnout for the event and hope that once all the sponsor money has come in, we will have raised a significant sum that will directly benefit cancer patients.
"I would like to thank all those who took part for supporting the event and everyone who helped organise the day, especially our sponsors and the soldiers of the 1 Mech Brigade."
Money raised from the event will go towards a number of innovative new projects that will help provide the best possible care for cancer patients at Salisbury District Hospital. Sponsorship money or donations should be sent to Hannah Paye, Charity Office, Salisbury District Hospital, Salisbury SP2 8BJ.
