COLIN Bush enjoyed one of his best days in football management on Saturday, without his side even kicking a ball.

Bush was already brimming with pride after being named manager of the month for October before he heard the weekend's Premier Division results.

With his players enjoying a hard-earned rest, champions Bideford and close rivals Frome Town both lost to leave Corsham six points clear at the top of the table.

The Reds begin the defence of their Wilts Senior Cup away to Wroughton tomorrow and Bush could not be feeling more jovial.

He said: "It's been a very good few days all-round for Corsham.

"I always say the manager of the month award is recognition for the whole club and this one is no different.

"To put together a winning run like we have done for the third consecutive year is a great achievement in its own right.

"When I heard about the defeats for Bideford and Frome it made it a great weekend."

Bush has put in seven days' notice for an unnamed Toolstation League defender after Nick Ridout snubbed Corsham in favour of a move to Frome.

The former Melksham centre half failed to make contact with Corsham last week and Bush says he has missed a "great opportunity" to join the Southbank side.

He said: "I couldn't get in touch with Nick so I decided on Friday there was no place for him here at Corsham.

"I'm not saying going to Frome is a bad move but it's shame because he could have learnt a lot from playing alongside Colin Towler.

"But in the end it is Nick's decision and I wish him all the best."

Bush also said goodbye to defender Craig Gingell on Friday, who left the Southbank to join Premier Division rivals Calne Town.

Gingell made his Lilywhites debut against Torrington at Bremhill View on Saturday and Bush wished him well.

He said: "I would have like Craig to stay here and fight for a place but he opted for first team football at Calne.

"I hope he does well there."
