ANGLING: DESPITE a heavy overnight frost the River Parrett at Langport still fished well on Sunday in the Frome Victorians match, with roach making up the bulk of the weights.
Top honours went to Jamie Stevens, of Street, with a mixed catch of roach, skimmers and small chub weighing 10lb 10oz, taken on waggler-fished casters.
Dave Allen, from Frome, clinched second prize with an all-roach catch weighing 9lb 2oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots.
He was followed by Jerry Miller, from Frome, with a roach catch weighing 8lb 2oz, taken on stick-floated red maggots.
Other placings: 4 Adam Mitchell, Glastonbury, 7lb 4oz; 5 Clive Glisson, Bridgwater, 5lb 13oz; 6 Bernie Wingrove, Frome, 5lb 10oz.
