TRAMPOLINING: TWO pupils of John of Gaunt School, Trowbridge, have won gold medals in their respective age groups at the latest in the season of grading competitions.
Chloe Hendy and Anna Bennet both attend the Evolution Trampoline Club.
Anna won in the grade 4 under 17 girls' event. Her first routine was a good strong example, giving her a good basis. Her second routine was also a good solid performance, the first two rounds giving her a season's best score.
As she went into the final the medals were still all up for grabs and a fantastic final routine secured the gold.
Chloe won in the grade 3 under 17 girls' event.
Her aim was to qualify to grade 2 and be eligible to compete nationally.
The first routine went not quite according to plan and left her with a lot of work to do to catch up in the second round.
Going into the voluntary round she was lying in second place with a lot of marks to make up, but she battled back and took the lead for the first time.
Not only did the great second routine put her in pole position but it also qualified her to grade 2, no easy feat for a competitor with less than two years' experience on a trampoline.
The final round was tense, but after another fantastic routine Chloe took the gold medal.
Head coach Sarah Hunt said: "We are so pleased for both girls. They have both worked really hard in training and both really deserve the success."
Evolution trampoline club caters for all ages and abilities and is run by fully qualified British Gymnastics coaches.
