BADMINTON: CHIPPENHAM 23 A have taken an early lead in Mixed Division One of the Mid-Wilts Badminton League after a 7-2 away win over newly promoted St Georges.
Unbeaten were Derek Lamb, Adam McKenzie and Jerril Daw.
Hardenhuish A lie second after an 8-1 win at Calne A, with Chris Penhaligon and John Fletcher scoring the only win for Calne.
Freshford are third after a 6-3 win at Phoenix A, with Steve Longden, Darren Jones and Heidi Paniccia remaining unbeaten.
In Division Two Hardenhuish B have taken the lead after a narrow 5-4 win over second placed Calne B. Chippenham 23 B moved to third place after a narrow 5-4 win over Bradford Penmoor A, John Barker remaining unbeaten on the night for Chippenham.
In Division Three White Horse A lead with 22 points followed closely by Corsham with 17 points and then a huge gulf to the other two teams, Bradford Penmoor B and White Horse B.
Phoenix A lead the 3/3 Mixed Division after beating Chippenham 23 8-1 away. Phoenix A have opened up a 10 point lead but have played one more match. Phoenix B remain bottom after a 6-3 defeat to Hardenhuish.
Calne lead Men's Division One after a narrow 5-4 home win over Freshford who played with only two pairs. Chris Penhaligon and Dave Burton won all thier games to ensure the win.
Last year's winners Hardenhuish started their season with a 7-2 away win over Chippenham 23. In Men's Division Two White Horse beat Phoenix B 8-1.
l WILTSHIRE 2nds beat Cornwall 1sts 10-5 in regional Division Three D of the inter-county championship at the Christie Miller Sports Centre, Melksham.
