FROME Town's leading goalscorer Mark Salter has turned down approaches from two Southern League Premier Division sides in favour of remaining with the Robins.
Salter rejected a lucrative package to move to Mangotsfield United and has also turned down the chance to join Team Bath.
Frome secretary Ian Pearce was delighted with the news, saying: "Mark is a huge part of Frome Town and has seen the whole club change for the better since joining us as a teenager.
"A player of his quality is always going to attract attention from higher league sides and that has been shown this season already with offers from Weston-super-Mare and the two recent approaches from Mangotsfield and Team Bath.
"At this moment it wasn't right for Mark to move up the pyramid and has opted to stay with us which has delighted everybody at the club.
"Obviously Salts still rightly harbours the ambition to play at a higher level and we hope that that will be with us if we can get Badgers Hill ready for Southern League football.
"It's something we are keen to do but there is a great deal of money involved and we hope that the local community now gets behind the club and helps us fulfil ambitions of the managers, players, committee and supporters.
"A town the size of Frome should have a club in the Southern League as a minimum."
