People aged 38 and 39 will be invited to book their Covid vaccinations from tomorrow morning in England, according to NHS sources.
It comes just 12 days after people over the age of 40 were told they could book their first Covid vaccine jab.
From Thursday (May 13), People aged 38 and 39 will be receiving texts from NHS England informing them that they are allowed to book an appointment, according to reports.
Latest government figures up to May 10 shows that of the 53,675,733 jabs given in the UK so far, 35,587,348 were first doses – a rise of 115,053 on the previous day.
Some 18,088,385 were second doses, an increase of 231,835.
The Government said a further 20 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the UK total to 127,629.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
The Government also said that, as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 2,474 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.
It brings the total to 4,439,691.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock received his first jab in April and said: “I got my jab yesterday and I urge everybody in these age groups to book a jab as soon as possible to protect yourself and your loved ones from this dreadful disease.”
