A GRANDMOTHER travelling with her two young grandchildren has been killed in a head-on car crash that also claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.
The 60-year-old from the Melksham area died when her green Ford Ka2 collided with a Red Vauxhall Calibre driven by the 20-year-old from Calne on the A360 Devizes to Salisbury road on Friday evening.
The accident happened shortly before 4.30pm at a place called Black Barn, just south of Tilshead.
The grandchildren aged eight and six years, who were back seat passengers, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A 17-year-old man from Cherhill and an 18-year-old woman from Calne were rushed to Salisbury District Hospital with life threatening injuries.
A third car, a blue Renault Clio was also involved in the incident, although the driver was left shaken but uninjured.
The road was closed for four hours and police are appealing for witnesses.
