GOOD food and well chosen wine have taken the owner of a village pub to the final of two national competitions.
Jonathan Furby, owner of The Linnet in Great Hinton, will be competing at The Savoy next month in the Publican Awards and will be joined by chef Marion Cummins at the Chef's Awards in January. He said: "We are really pleased about it. I love my food and getting involved in wine as well really opened my eyes."
In the first competition Mr Furby, 35, will be picking out the best wines to go with different dishes.
At the Chef's Awards he and Mrs Cummins, an apprentice chef, will be cooking a three-course meal for the judges in a timed event.
They will prepare a starter of Bath soft cheese with a rosemary crust and cranberry marmalade and saffron and parmesan risotto with pan fried sea bass and a red pepper hollandaise, finishing off with a chocolate trio dessert.
