THE funeral of a popular member of Trowbridge Cricket Club was due to take place yesterday.
Malcolm Belgrove, 64, was found dead at his home in Upper Westwood, on October 16.
He moved to the area from London in 1971 and lived in Westwood with his wife Mo and two sons Mathew and Mark. He worked for Heinz but had retired.
His main passion in life was cricket and he played for the Trowbridge club for more than 20 years.
Mr Belgrove's friend and fellow cricketer Terry Bishop said: "He was a very good off-spin bowler and was captain of the first XI.
"He was always a very enthusiastic player and when he stopped playing was very good at encouraging the younger players.
"It was a terrible blow to hear he had died. I had only spoken to him the day before."
An inquest into Mr Belgrove's death was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.
