POLICE in Wiltshire will be targeting drink-spiking as part of its biggest ever campaign.
Wiltshire officers will launch the next stage of the Operation XS campaign on Tuesday at the police headquarters in Devizes.
Drink-driving and the damage to health caused by binge drinking have already been covered by the campaign, which started earlier this year.
OP XS aims to crackdown on the problems of crime caused by binge drinking and has resulted in hundreds of arrests already.
Police said drink-spiking is an ongoing concern. Although it doesn't always lead to more serious crimes, statistics from the Roofie Foundation show in 2005 there were 47 incidents of drink-spiking which lead to a sexual assault in the south west.
Police plan to distribute branded drink guards and protective lids to clubs and pubs across the county to act as a deterrent and warn revellers to be on their guard against spikers.
