A FIVE-HOUR live music event in Chippenham raised over £150 for charity.

More than 100 people descended on the Neeld Hall last Thursday to watch four acts perform in Oxjam Chippenham.

All profits from the concert, which includes entrance tickets and donations, are going to Oxfam as part of Oxjam, Britain's first nation-wide and month-long music festival.

In a change to the scheduled line-up, Halagoogoo headlined the event after Birmingham-based Shady Bard were unable to make the trip to north Wiltshire.

Shady Bard's lead singer, and van driver, banged his head when loading the band's equipment and ended up in casualty, leaving the BBC Radio Six favourites stranded in the Midlands.

Halagoogoo were ably supported by Swindon's Electric City Heights, Chippenham battle of the band winners Uranium, and Nixa, who were rated a big success after making the trip from London for their debut performance.

Talented duo I'm With Stupid followed the bands with a DJ set.

Luke Tinklin, the Oxjam event co-ordinator was in jubilant mood following its success.

He said: "It was great and a lot of fun, all of the bands were great and the DJs were amazing.

"I've learned a lot and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came."
