FA TROPHY

CHIPPENHAM begin their FA Trophy campaign tomorrow with a trip to Southern League Division One South and West outfit Hillingdon Borough.

The London side reached the final of the FA Vase last season, losing 3-1 to Cheshire club Nantwich Town, and should provide a stern test for the Bluebirds.

Saturday's battling 1-0 win over Tiverton Town has given manager Darren Perrin renewed confidence after a difficult few weeks at the helm.

But Perrin knows defeat at Hillingdon, who have yet to win a home game in the league this season, would undo all the hard work of the last seven days.

He said: "This is massive game for us. The FA Trophy is a major competition and we want to stay in it as long as we possibly can.

"Saturday's win at Tiverton will count for nothing if we don't get a positive result at Hillingdon. It will be another tough test for the players."

Hillingdon thumped fellow Wiltshire side Swindon Supermarine 5-3 a few weeks ago and Perrin will not be underestimating his hosts.

He plans to speak to Supermarine boss Mark Collier ahead of tomorrow's clash in a bid to identify any weaknesses.

Perrin also had Hillingdon watched on Tuesday night when they drew 3-3 at home against Winchester City.

"I want to get as much detail about our opponents as possible. That's the way we always prepare for games and this one will be no different.

"It's important we get into some good habits now and build on the performance from Saturday. Hopefully we will take another large following with us to cheer the team on."

Steve Perrin has been to see a chiropractor at Cheltenham Town this week in a bid to be fit for tomorrow's game. Chris Snoddy could continue in goal.
