CHILDREN, parents and staff at Bratton Pre-school were celebrating on Tuesday after receiving a quality award.

Present and former members attended a lunch as the school was awarded a Pre-School Learning Alliance Accreditation by Gill Maddocks, the county's quality assurance development officer.

Play leader Wendy Waller said: "We were very proud. The celebration brought together all members of the community and built more links with the school."

In order to qualify for the accreditation the school had to submit a portfolio detailing how it deals with different aspects of pre-school life and was then subject to a two-day inspection.

Mrs Waller said: "Receiving this is a tribute to the professionalism of the staff and helpers. It shows we can reassure parents that we provide the highest standards of cares and education."

There are only about 25 pre-schools in Wiltshire which have achieved the award.

Bratton Pre-school will be displaying the certificate in the Church Institute, where it meets, and will be able to use the official accreditation logo on all its correspondence.
