NATIONAL charity, Heart Research UK, is on the lookout for volunteers who are willing to help spread the healthy heart' message to schools and community groups across the Wiltshire area.

Sadly, most people have been touched by heart disease as it remains the UK's biggest killer and more than one in three people die from cardiovascular disease.

We are training volunteers who are willing to talk to small groups of year 5 pupils about the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet, not smoking and taking regular physical activity - the right ingredients for a healthy heart.

With new research showing that over 80 per cent of cardio-related deaths could be avoided by simple lifestyle changes, more speakers than ever are needed to help spread the message of how to maintain a healthy heart.

Many of our speakers choose to share their own experiences, particularly if they have had heart problems themselves, or a loved one has been affected by heart disease. Some are people have a background or knowledge of health; many are people who are passionate about healthy living and wish to share their passion for a healthy lifestyle with others.

Heart Research UK provides full training, resources and support and we will, of course, cover expenses. We are holding our next training session in the area on November 13 and we would love to hear from you.
