I FEEL incensed enough to put pen to paper.
I live in a quiet cul-de-sac consisting of eight bungalows for the old or infirm and on Tuesday teatime we were treated to a band of five or six young males (14 or 15 years old) throwing fireworks.
I telephoned the 0845 police number and was left on hold for 30 minutes listening to a recorded message telling me how caring and concerned the police were about the community.
I then decided to hang up and telephone the Devizes Police number which resulted in a fairly quick response. The boys were taken home to their parents and, presumably, spoken to about the incident.
Is it any wonder that there are so many non-emergency calls made via 999. Perhaps the powers that be in the Force should look at this problem and by resolving it may go a fair way to solving the other.
