IN last week's paper Ms R. J. Stroud's point of view might have had more validity if she had bothered to get her facts right.
There have not been any pigeons in Trafalgar Square for some years. London County Council got rid of them all, and it is now an offence to feed any wild birds in Trafalgar Square, the penalty being a hefty fine.
To suggest that you are being racist to attack these two women who feed the pigeons because they are Polish is stupid beyond belief. It has nothing whatever to do with their race, religious beliefs of anything else.
The time has surely come when the local authorities must do something. To spend any money on a dovecote (whether it be £10,000 or £10) is laughable. There is surely only one solution - clean the whole area up, and make it an offence for anyone, whatever their race, creed, age or anything else, to feed the pigeons. Something needs to be done fast.
