A MURDER mystery 1920s-style raised funds for a charity that helps pre-school children with special needs.

More than 100 people stepped back in time as the Intrigue Theatre Group performed Heirs and Disgraces, a whodunnit set in the 1920s, at Melksham House on Friday evening.

The event was in aid of the Stepping Stones Opportunity Group, based in Polebarn Road, Trowbridge, and many of those who attended were dressed in period costume to enjoy the mystery, a meal and a raffle.

Debbie Wickham, team leader at Stepping Stones said: "It was a fabulous, really fantastic evening and the support we had was superb.

"We had 103 people, but the tickets could easily have been sold twice over because there was so much interest from so many people."

The murder mystery began as soon as people arrived, and went on throughout the meal.

Eventually all the suspects in the play went round the tables to answer questions so people could decide who was the murderer.

Stepping Stones hopes to raise around £1,300 which will go towards the £40,000 needed every year to keep the charity going.
