ON a wet and slippery surface, Bromham, with a depleted squad and key players injured, struggled to contain the Worton and Cheverell attack in their under 11s game.

From the start Worton took the lead after a poor defensive lapse as Bromham tried to get into the game.

Bromham levelled when top goalscorer Richard Phillips created an opening and took his chance well and for the next 15 minutes play was fairly even, with both sides trying to create chances.

But disaster struck for Bromham when they conceded two penalties within a few minutes, which were both converted by Worton to make the score 3-1.

Worse was to follow as Worton got on top and added a fourth goal shortly after and a fifth just before half-time.

In the second half the Worton pressure was persistent and a further five goals were conceded with Bromham only having a couple of chances through Richard Phillips, who broke clear only to see the Worton goalkeeper make an excellent save.

At the final whistle the score was a crushing 10-1 to Worton and Cheverell, who now go to the top of the table.
