UP to 150 women from all across Wiltshire took part in a charity driving challenge at RAF Lyneham on Sunday.

Taking the wheel of a range of vehicles, from articulated trucks and 4x4s to double-decker buses and roadsweepers, the women raised £15,000 for Prospect Hospice, near Swindon.

The event was jointly organised by Caroline Lyon, community fund-raiser at Prospect and Lyneham squadron leader Rob Gratton, a senior air traffic control officer.

Squadron leader Gratton said: "This is a charity that lies close to many people's hearts. It has been great fun seeing all the ladies get so much out of this challenge and a sense of achievement for us at Lyneham to see the event run so smoothly on the base.

"Lyneham is such a big part of the local community and it's great for use to get involved and give something back to those that support us so well."
