CHIPPENHAM Town Supporters' Club chairman Will Hulbert has welcomed plans to hold a meet the manager' session at Hardenhuish Park.

The idea was suggested by chairman Sandie Webb before she flew out to Zagreb to watch England's European Championship qualifier against Croatia.

Hulbert said the meeting would give the fans the perfect opportunity to quiz manager Darren Perrin on the club's indifferent start to the season.

He said: "I'm totally in favour of this idea. The Supporters' Club has organised similar meetings in the past when Steve White was in charge, and we had one with Darren at the end of last season.

"It's a little different this time because things are not going so well on the pitch, but I expect it to be a positive meeting.

"It's the perfect opportunity for the fans to share their views and I hope they take full advantage of it."

A date or venue for the meeting has yet to be decided but Perrin confirmed he would be happy to talk openly with the Bluebirds' passionate band of followers.

After last Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Gloucester City, Perrin issued an open invitation to fans to come and talk to him about any on-field issues.

He has given his full backing to the planned meeting.

"This will give the supporters a chance to come and question me. I think it's important they should have their say.

"It's more important to hold these kind of talks when things are going wrong than when they are going right.

"I will try to give an honest answer to every question asked of me," he said.

Perrin praised the fans for the response he got before and after the home defeat to Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday.

"I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters who really got behind me and the players.

"We will try our best to repay your faith with some positive results."
