VANDALS went on a window-smashing spree last Wednesday night, targeting a charity shop as one of their victims.

A window at the Red Cross charity shop, in Silver Street, Trowbridge, was one of those broken by thugs.

Manager Janet Knight said: "It will be covered by our insurance but we will still have to pay an excess.

"These people are just taking money away from those that need it.

"They can afford to go drinking down the pub but why come out and kick a charity shop window?"

A window at the Bewise store next door was also smashed on the same night.

Manager Lucy Spiers said: "I came in on Thursday morning and saw the window next door was smashed and thought oh no', then saw ours.

"It is a pain. These windows are expensive and it is something we could do without really."
