IT was a successful three days for organisers of an inaugural real ale festival at a Bradford on Avon pub.

Up to 150 people sampled the 14 different ales on offer at the Barge Inn, many of which were provided by local breweries.

Organiser Shaun Dobson said: "It was brilliant. Everyone had a great time and we managed to convert some lager drinkers into beer drinkers.

"The band finished it off really well. They were only supposed to play for an hour but ended up playing for two and a half because people kept cheering them back."

The most popular ales proved to be Cornwall brewery Sharp's with its Sharp's Special and Atlantic IPA, which both ran out.

Other popular choices were Amarillo, from the Milk Street brewery, in Frome and a specially brewed ale from Blindman's Brewery, in Frome.
