A 48-YEAR-OLD man has appeared at Swindon Crown Court on charges linked to an alleged attack in Southwick.

James Sutherland, of Winsome Street, Southwick, has been charged with assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice on July 28.

It is claimed he advised Neil Sutherland to dispose of a weapon following an alleged serious assault on a man.

James Sutherland, who appeared in court on Friday, was released on unconditional bail and the case was adjourned to December 1 when he is expected to enter pleas.

Neil Sutherland is on bail facing a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in Southwick.

He is accused of leaving Trowbridge man Paul Mills in a critical condition following an attack with a baseball bat.

Neil Sutherland, 22, of Horton Street, Frome, has yet to enter a plea to the matter.
