HISTORY was brought to life at a primary school near Warminster as pupils went back to Tudor times.

On Tuesday a class of Year 3 and 4 children at Crockerton Primary enjoyed a Tudor day, where they dressed in period costume and took part in a variety of activities such as writing with a quill, cooking and a banquet attended by Henry VIII and many of his wives.

A feast of homemade cheese tart and apple fritters proved popular as did a dance class where the children were taught several period dances.

One of the pupils who enjoyed the alternative history lesson counted herself fortunate to leave school unscathed, considering the name she was given for the day.

Josie Boleyn' said: "This was the best day ever but I was lucky to keep my head."
