THE Socialist Party has organised a public meeting to call for an end to NHS cutbacks in west Wiltshire.

The meeting, to be held at Longfield Community Centre in Weavers Drive on Tuesday, has been organised by Trowbridge Socialist Party to discuss the next course of action to fight the proposed hospital cutbacks.

Senior UNISON steward Roger Davey will address the meeting in a personal capacity.

Tom Baldwin, from the Socialist Party, said the emphasis of the meeting was to battle against closure plans.

"We applaud the firm stance taken by locals, health workers and community activists and join with them in demanding that the incoming PCT shelve these closure plans completely," he said in a statement.

The public meeting will start at 7.45pm.
