Shocked families are calling for Clarendon College headteacher Mark Stenton to be sacked ahead of a governors’ meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will discuss the 41-year-old’s admission that he sent texts to Amy Honeywell, 14, the daughter of the school’s data administrator Angela, with whom he had an affair. In the texts, he is said to have threatened suicide.

Parents say his actions were a clear breach of the school’s Code of Conduct.

Mr Stenton was spoken to by police on October 21, after he tried to kick down Mrs Honeywell’s door when she ended her affair with him.

Mrs Honeywell’s other daughter Kayleigh, 12, quit the school on Monday and was offered a place at John of Gaunt School.

The 41-year-old mother-of-three and her carpet fitter husband, Chris, have now lodged an official grievance complaint against Mr Stenton and several close aides.

Parent Lisa Sworn, of Avenue Road, said: “Mr Stenton’s behaviour and attitude leaves behind far too much damage to offset the good that some seemed to have observed. He should be replaced.”

Pat Fisher, who has four grandchildren at the school, added: “Surely [the governors] are not condoning this action when he has clearly breached his own school’s Code of Conduct.”

Steve Thompson-Martyn, the chairman of governors, said: “This is primarily a personal matter and Clarendon College is absolutely committed to supporting the wellbeing of all its pupils and staff.

“All aspects of this matter are being taken very seriously. Following supportive meetings with council colleagues, the governors will, as part of their scheduled meeting, discuss and agree the most appropriate course of action.”
