It has come to our notice, through the League of Friends, that there has been an objection to the outline planning permission granted for a nursing home, respite care and flats for assisted living purposes, on the Bradford on Avon hospital site. When this was originally sold by the Primary Care Trust, it was agreed that part of the site could be reserved for health care use which was the origin of the outline planning permission. Bearing in mind the support the town had given the hospital over many years, and the changing demographics, this was appropriate.
However, we understand that an objection has been received from one of the proposed new residents of Manor Gardens on the grounds there might be noise from vehicles such as ambulances when what was required was peace and quiet.
Nevertheless, a suspicion, not cited on the objection, was that space might be required for a private helicopter landing pad. We feel that in the interest of residents in this electoral ward there needs to be full public consultation before decisions are made.
The Venerable and Mrs JE Burgess, Cloister Garth, Berryfield Road, Bradford on Avon.
