TWO men have been charged with a series of offences after a car hit traffic lights in the early hours of Saturday.
Ross Carr, 19, and Jamie Walleter, 18, both of Corsham, were arrested after a car which had been reported as stolen hit another vehicle and the traffic lights on the A350 near Asda in Melksham at 1.40am. Two people fled the scene of the accident.
Carr, of Winters Court, was arrested nearby a short time after and Walleter, of Queens Avenue, was later found riding a bike towards Corsham and arrested.
Carr was charged with aggravated taking without consent, drink-driving, making off without paying for fuel and driving without a valid licence and insurance. Walleter was charged with aggravated taking without consent and theft of a pedal cycle.
The pair will appear before at North West Wiltshire Magistrates in Chippenham on November 10.
