A man has been remanded in custody after admitting putting a woman in fear of violence by harassment.

Richard Andrew, 24, of Swaledale Road, Warminster, told his victim he would drive a car through her home and made repeated threatening phone calls and texts.

He also admitted taking a Land Rover Freelander without the owner’s consent, when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.

Andrew had been charged with threats to kill, but prosecutors said they would not seek a trial after he made the other admissions.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, said Andrew did not admit some of the more “physical aspects” of the allegations.

He said he had denied “grabbing her” and waving a knife. He accepted being in the bathroom and causing fear to his victim.

Andrew’s harassment took place between June and and August 5 this year. He admitted taking the 52-plate Land Rover between August 2 and 5.

Judge Douglas Field remanded him in custody until November 11, to allow time for a pre-sentence report.
