PLANS to develop 78 properties on the Westinghouse sports ground in Chippenham will be put before the Northern Area Planning Committee on November 2.
The controversial attempts to build on the grounds have been slammed by residents and councillors, although the ground’s cricket club, which would be relocated to the rugby club at Allington Fields, has welcomed it.
More than 400 people have visited Wiltshire Council’s website to debate the plan, and 254 signed a petition against it.
Developer Linden Homes is proposing a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes in Bristol Road, and houses in Park Lane will be behind up to three storeys tall.
Westinghouse became two companies in 2005. In the same year Westinghouse Rail Systems, now Invensys Rail, put the sports ground on the market. It sold the land to Linden Homes in 2008.
