Dorothy House Hospice is looking for extra volunteers for its busy Westbury charity shop, which like others in the town has been hit by the recession.
The shop, in Westbury High Street, is run by only one paid staff member, shop manager Cherol North, who has seen it thrive since May 2006.
Kate Stenner, the retail administrator for Dorothy House Hospice, has been concerned by the lack of volunteer numbers in the town.
Miss Stenner said: “The council raised the parking charges in the summer and it has hindered the opportunities of staff, as well as customers, but there’s a possibility they may lower it again.
“Anyone is welcome from all walks of life, from school leavers to people in their 90s. We have very friendly staff already and it’s always an enjoyable atmosphere.”
Volunteering opportunities range from sorting through donations to operating the till. Full training will be provided.
