STAFF at Corsham Regis Primary School are celebrating their Ofsted report, which has seen the school improve from satisfactory to good with outstanding features.

The Kings Avenue school, which has 146 pupils, was inspected in September and headteacher Louisa Sellars is delighted with the report’s findings.

She said: “This is fantastic, we were satisfactory in February 2009, when we were last inspected, but this improvement says a lot about the school and the efforts everyone is making.”

Miss Sellars became acting head in September 2007 and took up her current role in April 2009.

She said: “This great report marks a culmination of four years of very hard work by our school community. We implemented some changes and we’ve ensured the pupils have been put first, right at the heart of the school.”

The report, carried out by lead inspector Rodney Braithwaite, praised the level of safety which the school provides pupils and its relationship with parents, giving Corsham Regis an outstanding rating in these categories.

Mr Braithwaite said: “Corsham Regis Primary is a good school. It has many strengths, foremost being the concern of the whole staff for the care, welfare and development of the pupils.

“This is led by a sympathetic and ambitious headteacher.

“Together with a skilled deputy headteacher, and a willing and enthusiastic staff and governing body, she has guided the school’s considerable improvement over the last two years.”

In that period the school has installed new outdoor equipment and classroom apparatus.

Miss Sellars said: “We’ve known for a while the school has made a rapid change, now we need to continue pushing and aim a full outstanding rating in the future.”
