HAVING already played Premier Division leaders FC Bradford and defending champions Biddestone Social twice, Mike Rogers' AFC Melksham side could have been forgiven for thinking that their next match would have been a little easier.
However it is a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire for the top-flight newcomers, who host Shaun Gardiner’s Westbury Rangers A, who have won all six of their games to date and share top spot with FC Bradford.
Melksham have given a good account of themselves this season despite winning just one match.
If they could find their scoring boots then they will be in with a chance of upsetting the odds at Christie Miller, but if things go to form it should be Westbury who claim maximum points.
After coming up just short against Biddestone Social last weekend Bug & Spider will be hoping that they can take their chances this Sunday when they welcome AFC Bell to their Beversbrook base.
Bug & Spider won both fixtures last season involving the two sides, but they go into this game hoping to end a three-match losing run which they will be confident of doing as they seem to have the measure of their guests in recent times.
Joint leaders FC Bradford have a visit from near-neighbours Winsley to look forward to.
Pete Collier’s hosts were beaten 7-2 when the teams last met, but prior to that they had beaten Paul Ranger’s side 10-2 so it looks odds-on that this fixture is unlikely to produce a goalless draw.
With Bradford on fire in front of goal it will probably turn out to be another goal fest which Bradford are tipped to win. An out-of-sorts Semington Rovers side won’t be looking forward to the visit of Dan Lardner’s Biddestone Social side, who have a 100 per cent record to date and have not suffered a defeat in the league for over a year.
Semington have been without their first-choice keeper for most of the season and Allan Clarke’s side will be hoping that Tom Wysocki will be available for this game, or they could be heading for a ninth straight defeat at the hands of the Biddy boys.
