I was pleased to see your coverage of the change to the planning rules agreed by the Conservatives at County Hall. However, the example quoted by Cllr Sturgis of how this poorly conceived policy would work was both facile and seemingly irrelevant.
This change to the rules is a prime example of elected councillors forgetting who they serve; their electors, the council employees or property developers? I would suggest their duty is to the former.
It might interest Cllr Sturgis, and the rest of the Conservative group, to know that, after posting the story on my website, not one person contacted me agreeing with the change – all comments were to question what game the administration is playing.
Ernie Clark, Wiltshire Councillor, Hilperton.
