On reading The Life and Death of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Mary Bosanquet I was rather astonished to find reference to a meeting of German Protestants at Bradford on Avon from November 17-30 1933.
At this time German Protestants were led by a Bishop Muller who supported the Nazi regime, Bonhoeffer and others of course opposed it. From my reading of the book it seems to me this meeting of Protestant ministers addressed by Bonhoeffer set the course of opposition to Hitler in the German church and must have changed world opinion.
I have approached one of our two Anglican churches to find out more details.
When the venue is known may I suggest a plaque be erected, of course to honour Bonhoeffer but also importantly to record the part Bradford on Avon played in a historic decision.
