The Arc’s new season opens on September 10 with Alan Reid and Rob Van Santé who are on a rare trip south from their native Scotland with their evening of folk music, including Battlefield Band favourites. Events in the opening week of the season coincide with Trowbridge Festival which runs from September 10 to 17. Other highlights that week include Travels with Granddad a puppet show for all the family.

The Arc’s Open Day is on September 17. Rachael Selley, theatre director said: “We are pleased to present another season of the Arc Theatre’s blend of professional touring theatre, music, comedy, film and local amateur companies.

“There is a great range of theatre on offer: with highlights including Stalag Happy, which is an emotional production depicting the true story of painters Terry Frost and Adrian Heath, with Terry Frost played by his grandson Dan Frost, and a new family show The Voyage of the Nutjellynana: Space, the Cuddly Frontier by Angel Heart Theatre who return to the Arc this season. “We also have a new season of films that will be shown on our state of the art high definition projector with full surround sound – from the cult classic Beetlejuice to celebrate Hallowe’en to the inspirational true story of Mao’s Last Dance.”

The theatre is showcasing local talent this season with visits from Trowbridge Amateur Operatic Society with South Pacific, Trowbridge Players with Macbeth and Sleeping Beauty and Footlights with Mother Goose.

Music this season ranges from the enchanting singer songwriter Martha Tilston, to a range of folk music programmed in partnership with the Village Pump @ The Lamb, to a seasonal set with Bath-based jazz singer James Lambeth.

The theatre is holding an open day on September 17 that will include behind the scenes tours as the world premier of Suburban Cell Mates is rehearsed.
