COMMUNITY groups are being given the chance to compete for their share of an £18,000 fund for new projects in the west Wiltshire area.
The CommunityForce scheme, launched by NatWest bank, is a new initiative to help local charities, organisations and groups raise publicity for their work and attract volunteers.
Three lucky organisations will land themselves £6,000 each if they can win enough online votes. They will have until September 4 to enter the competition, then a poll will open in which the public can choose their favourite.
There are 158 such schemes in the country being run by NatWest.
Chris Ashton, the bank’s chief executive for the West Wiltshire area, said: “The new CommunityForce initiative will offer organisations more than just financial support.
“By applying for the awards, local charities and projects will become part of a local online network giving them greater visibility and the opportunity to attract volunteers from the local area.”
NatWest staff will also be getting involved by volunteering their time and expertise, supporting the bank’s commitment to deliver 7,000 days of community volunteering in 2011.
“Giving the community the chance to vote for the award winners will ensure these funds go to the organisations local people value the most,” said Mr Ashton.
Organisations and charities can apply for a CommunityForce award at www.natwest.com/communityforce.
