WEST Wilts are top of Davis Wood West of England & South Wales League Premier Three after claiming a win and a draw from two weekend matches.

On Saturday, the Warminster side swamped Ottery Crickets 14-1 before following up with a 3-3 draw at home to Bristol University 2nd Unable to cope with the speed of play and movement off the ball Crickets’ defence collapsed as the Wilts scored eight goals before half time.

Matty Kenyon’s fantastic individual effort was the highlight of the first half, but Dave Jeffreys and Paul Fricker led the goalscoring with five each.

Mark Brothers and Matt Elloway added the other goals.

Bristol made the better start to Sunday’s game, claiming a 2-0 half-time lead.

But 10 minutes in to the second period, West Wilts were awarded a short corner James Baker drag-flicked into the top corner.

Then Fricker crossed to allow Jeffreys a tap-in.

Bristol regained the lead with a scrappy short corner goal, but West Wilts stepped up again when a sideline ball from Matt Eloway found Dan Sheppard, who skipped through the defence and crossed for Fricker to equalise.
