CHIPPENHAM Ladies defeated a young Lydney team in a thrilling match.
Chippenham started strongly from the initial whistle as an attacking drive towards goal from Sabina Falcone saw her send a precision ball to Tracey Davies, who scored.
Maintaining the pressure, Chippenham soon doubled their lead as another good passing move found Sian Perham waiting on the post to sweep the ball home.
But Chippenham then took their foot off the gas and allowed Lydney into the game, slotting home a well worked short corner.
This seemed to spark Chippenham back into action, turning defence into attack.
Again the pressure told as player of the match Julie Lodge drove the ball from defence, passed a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Sue Doel who beat the goalkeeper at the far post.
Lydney, to their credit, did not give up and they too, turned defence into attack and soon grabbed their second goal of the game.
The second half saw Chippenham add another, Nan Roberts sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. Lydney again came back, clawing back their third goal which set up a nail-biting last few minutes Goalkeeper Lexis Taylor pulled off some great saves to ensure that Chippenham finished as winners.
