TWO babies have kept keepers at Longleat Safari Park busy this spring.
Baby Gertrude, the 101st giraffe born at the park near Warminster, has developed a cheeky temperament, says her keeper.
But standing more than six-foot tall already, Gertrude towers over the other new arrival, baby Brazilian tapir Gethin, who weighed in at 20 pounds and was just 10 inches at birth.
Gertrude is the sixth child for mum Becky.
Meanwhile, Gethin, the fifth tapir born at the safari park, is one of five offspring for mum Jessie.
Keeper Andy Hayton said: "Although we are dealing with the little and large of the animal world, to be honest they have much the same needs when it comes to care.
"Their respective mums are doing a grand job feeding and looking after them and both babies seem to have fitted well into their extended families."
Brazilian tapirs are closely related to the rhino and have mobile snouts, which they use as snorkels in the water.
