CORSHAM Centre will have to fit in five matches in 10 days as they look for the two victories that will secure them the Premier Division title.

The Centre were due to play local rivals Corsham Cricket Club at the weekend but the cricketers were unable to fulfil the fixture.

An understrength Biddestone Social side bounced back from the surprise Knockout Cup final defeat last weekend to beat Westbury Rangers A 4-0 in the only midweek match from the top flight.

The victory leaves Biddestone as the only team that can now possibly deny Centre the title. Biddestone were so short of players that they had to play their manager John O'Meara for the full 90 minutes and it was his cross that led to Steve Healy heading home the opener after five minutes.

Midway through the first half Biddestone doubled their lead when Kevin Banks connected with a Dan Lardner cross. Biddestone's third goal came early in the second period, when a Danny Jones cross sailed into the net.

Even after having two points deducted for playing an ineligible player earlier this season when they beat Southwick Sports, leaders Kings Arms still hold all the aces and should secure back-to-back titles next week when they face White Horse FC.

Their 5-3 victory at Biddestone Arms leaves them three points ahead of the Nose and only a major slip-up would leave them failing to lift the champions crown.

Biddestone threatened to upset the formbook as goals from Jack Goodship, Pete Humphrey and Chris Mochan had them drawing 3-3 at one stage and this after Scott Askew had bagged his ninth hat-trick of the campaign to leave him just one goal short of the 50 mark. Dave Sykes and Pete Spong were the Arms' other scorers.

North Star B's 2-0 midweek defeat at Wheatsheaf condemned them to relegation. Wheatsheaf's Terry Cox was dismissed for a dreadful tackle but the ten men took the points with from Graeme Neale and Jason O'Sullivan, his first goal of the season.

Wheatsheaf were unable to build on their midweek success and away to Sir Audley's Arms on Sunday suffered their first defeat in seven matches when they lost 2-1. Tom Porter and Luke Gullick scored for the Arms, with Graeme Neale replying.
