AFTER three nights of contractions Lindsay Gadd was relieved when little Alex was finally born.

He was one week overdue but in the end Mrs Gadd, 26, who works for Clinton Cards in The Shires shopping centre, was only in labour for 55 minutes.

She and her husband Ben, 23, who works for Norian Beds, already have a son called Jack, four. Mrs Gadd said this pregnancy was very different from the last, despite being told the second child was usually easier.

"This time I had sickness and pain in my back and I had none of that before. It was easier with Jack," she said. "At the end he didn't want to come out. He must have been very comfortable. But he was very quick once I got into hospital."

Mr Gadd said the news had not quite sunk in yet for Jack but he understood he had a new baby brother. His wife said she was pleased to have another boy and was preparing herself for the future with two little boys.

She said: "They'll probably end up fighting when they're older, I'm a bit worried they'll end up picking on each other."
