A GROUP of young baton twirlers are celebrating winning a silver medal at the world championships in Holland.
Six members of the Trowbridge-based Metallica Twirlers were part of a 22-strong team competing in Eindhoven on Friday.
Club treasurer Shay Bremner said: "They really, really did well and we are so pleased."
The youngest member of the Twirlers squad to be picked to perform was 11-year-old Nicole Lomax. She was joined by Kayleigh Bremner, 19, her 16-year-old sister Kirsty, 14-year-olds Stephanie Applegate and Sasha Smith and Channon Brown, 13.
The girls beat competition from nearly 30 countries, including USA, Japan, Canada and South Africa, being beaten only by France.
The Twirlers were formed in 2002 by Mrs Bremner and her husband Andy. Their next event is a regional competition in Salisbury, in preparation for the national finals in October.
